We Found a Kidney Donor!

Kobie Chaney is my 11 year old brother. Kobie was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome in 2002. He has battled yearly relapses with this disease. As the years went on Kobie’s struggles with Nephrotic Syndrome had progressively worsened & were not responding to his regular treatments. In the summer of 2009 Kobie had a kidney biopsy that showed he was suffering from FSGS(Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis) which is end stage renal disease & that his kidneys were functioning at 20%. In September 2009 Kobie has a kidney removed & a Peritoneal catheter placed & started to have nightly Peritoneal dialysis at home. Dialysis was going as planned & family members were being tested as possible kidney donors.

In February of this year Kobie started to complain of shortness of breath & trouble breathing & was initially diagnosed w/walking pneumonia, but upon further testing he was found to have Congestive Heart Failure & Cardiomyopathy. Since this diagnosis Kobie has been hospitalized & has been in Children’s Hospital Cardiac ICU the majority of his hospital stay. There have been other reported cases of heart failure in children with kidney failure but not a case as severe as Kobie’s. During this time upon several conferences/meetings with the Cardiac, Kidney & heart failure Doctors it was determined that Kobie was a special & difficult case due to the fact that his heart failure & end stage renal disease makes it difficult to treat his heart. If Kobie’s heart didn’t start to repair itself the recommendation from the doctors were that he would need to be put on the transplant list for a double heart & kidney transplant & would never be able to come home unless a transplant was received. There was a suggestion from one Kidney doctor to place a Hemodialysis catheter & to see if that maybe that would help the heart to begin to function better. He had the catheter placed & began treatment & with much prayer from many people Kobie’s heart function improved.
The doctors determined that now Kobie could received a kidney transplant & the heart failure will repair itself. 
AND WE FOUND A DONOR!!!

God Created Faith as the foundation of our lives..

“I Believe”
God created faith has the foundation of our lives. Let’s think about this, do we not all use faith in every day life? Just simple idea that you know you will be walking to class and turn in the assignment you did last night, faith. I mean if I didn’t have faith the bad days I have would effect my whole life in a negative way for ever. Hardship to me means, “I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). God does allow bad times in our lives and that where faith has great value. Because without faith that everything is eventually going to be okay, we would go in to a dark place of deep depression. I’ve experienced it one to many times. Do you realize that every time something goes wrong in life there is always something awaiting for us that is ten times better?
My brother has recently been in the hospital for almost 2 months now. He was having big heart problems and kidney issues. My family was all taken to a dark place and we could not see the blessing in this. We stopped our daily prayer for thanks for everyday life and things got really rocky and down after that. My father even lost his job. I was getting calls and emails fro the school about money issues, there didn’t seem like any brighter days were left to come.
But then God helped me and my family see faith of that brighter day. I think not having faith allows us to be lazy and expect our down falls as giving up moments. I went home for spring break and I witness my brother’s sickness and parents depression but through the mist of it all, my father got on his knees and in a hospital where my brother stayed in and made my family hold hands.
He then prayed to God as we closed our eyes he prayed for strength and faith. And promise to you at that moment I felt okay. God everything in your life feels so much better. And little by little I started to gain faith, “if you have faith as small as a mustard seed… Nothing will be impossible for you." Mathew 17:20. And our prayers as a family continued with our faith.
Today my brother is not under critical condition. He went outside to have a picnic and is now in school. His heart and his kidney has both improved. It toke faith to help this family see what life is all about. “Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes” Psalms 37:7.
